My Mac & Cheese
I have always loved mac and cheese and might even go as far as saying that I am a mac and cheese connoisseur. My favorite, from a wonderful, little restaurant called The French Laundry, is a white cheddar mac and cheese. After three attempts and inspiration from several different recipes, tonight I finally enjoyed the perfect bowl of homemade mac. Its pretty damn good, if I don’t say so...

Hi Again!
We haven’t written in a while and I need to get better about that! Although our apartment hasn’t gotten too many additions (our attention and money went to Bonnaroo for a few months), we have had a lot of fun making some food and trying different beers. So maybe we will write about that for a while. And keep you updated on the great deals we find (which hopefully included a dresser...

I would really love this poster. →
It would look great on our collage wall that we plan to create. I must add this to my list of items to get because I think it says something very powerful. And I love the typography.
Sorry It's Been A While!
Hello Michigan Family!
I am SO sorry that it has taken so long to update the blog and keep you in the loop, but I figured that you would all be together today and could look at them today :) We are obviously still working on getting more decorations, but my Dad hung our mirrors for us and it is all coming together!
Thought I would update you on what we are doing today too down here for Easter!...

GROUPON!
We bought a $50 Groupon for $200 at Mattress Firm! If you aren’t signed up for Groupon, DO IT! They have them for a ton of different cities. We will now be getting a $550 mattress and box spring for $350 (So really $400, but when you go to use the Groupon it feels like even less because you bought it a while ago!)

Weekend Adventures
Though we didn’t buy anything, we came across an awesome store this weekend, completely by chance. We were at a furniture store when I saw a billboard for Southeast Salvage Home Furnishings, so I looked it up on my phone. It was a bit shady, but definitely worth checking out! They had great mirrors and paintings, tons of garden accessories (I thought of my mom), rugs, building supplies,...

Flea Market Finds!
Last Sunday, we went to the most amazing flea market! Here is what we got and also what we saved:
Vintage Mirror, 2x4 ft (at least!): $30 (Originally $45 but the seller made us a deal)
2 Rugs, 2x3: $6 (We saw it the same day at Walmart for $11), 3x4: $12
Vintage Something that we’re going to use as a bookend: $1
So we spent $49 and saved AT LEAST $35! We are planning on getting a rug...

What we're working with.
Our apartment is about 950 square feet and has vaulted ceilings. It is MUCH bigger than all the other apartments we looked at and the 200 extra square feet was a major reason we picked this one. Other pluses were the washer and dryer in the unit, the open floor plan and the price. We also got lucky enough to get a brand new apartment and be the first ones to live in it!
Welcome to our new place!
Hi there!
We finally got our own place! We have a month until we move into our new apartment and we have been preparing and buying and coming up with tons of ideas to make it feel like home. We will keep you up-to-date on our thrifty finds, ideas and inspirations with lots of pictures! Whether you are our family across the country or just looking for ideas for your place, thanks for stopping by!
